
Getting Your Sacmi Rotary Blowers to Heat Up Faster
When you’re running Sacmi rotary blow molding machines, everything happens fast. Like, really fast. If your PET preforms don’t heat up the second they need to, you’re looking at uneven walls or bottles that just look… wrong. We wanted to fix that. So, we built replacement lamps that cut out that annoying start-up lag and keep the heat exactly where it belongs. The power side of things To get that plastic to the right temperature in a fraction of a second, you need serious power density. We matched the voltage and wattage to the original Sacmi specs so the filament hits peak infrared emission almost instantly. Basically, higher voltage lets us keep the heating element compact, focusing all that energy right on the preform. Just a heads-up: don’t try to crank the wattage higher than your power supply can handle, or you’ll burn through your filaments way too quickly. Quartz and the “Quick-Start” secret We went with high-purity quartz glass because it can take a beating. These lamps cycle on and off constantly, and quartz handles that thermal shock without cracking. Inside, the geometry is tuned for shortwave infrared. Why? Because shortwave radiation sinks deeper into the PET plastic and does it faster. And you don’t need a toolkit and a manual to install them. We used standard industrial connectors, so they just drop right in. No hacking away at your machine housing or rewiring the whole setup. A few things to watch out for Here’s the trade-off: these lamps put out a massive amount of heat to keep your cycles moving. That means your cooling system has to work harder. If your airflow is blocked or your fans are caked in dust, the heat builds up. That’s bad news. It can kill the life of the lamp or even warp the plastic parts nearby. One last tip? Keep your reflectors clean. When dust builds up on those mirrors, the efficiency drops. The lamps then have to run even hotter to make up for it, which just wears them out faster. Keep them shiny, and you’re good to go.
