If you’ve ever had an infrared heater quit on you, chances are it didn’t happen in the middle of the lamp. It happened at the connection. Here is the reality: when you’re running a heater at full blast, those lead-wires are taking a beating. They expand, they contract, they get hammered by thermal cycling. Most cheap, off-the-shelf heaters just use basic heat shrink or some low-temp glue to hold things together. It works… for a while. But eventually, that stuff bakes. It cracks. It peels away.
