On a running stretch blow molder, preform heating is the point of no return. If the heating tunnel starts drifting, you’re looking at scorched PET, wall thickness swings, and jams that shut the line down. We put together a 1000W short wave halogen lamp to keep heat stable, repeatable, and under control—so your cycle doesn’t run on guesswork.
What it’s built around
This short wave halogen lamp is a 1000W infrared emitter, centered on a quartz tube and a compact filament. Short-wave output reacts fast, so the lamp hits set temperature quickly and cools quickly when the machine cycles. The 1000W rating lines up with common OEM heating zones on blow molders, giving you predictable energy density across the preform body. Standard R7s connectors make replacement straightforward, and the geometry is shaped to sit cleanly inside tight tunnel reflectors.
Why this matters on the floor
In stretch blow molding, the preform has to be evenly heated before the stretch rod and blow pin do their work. With this lamp, you get quicker thermal response, tighter temperature bands, and fewer rejects from PET that’s underheated or overheated. That shows up as higher first-pass yield, fewer line stops, and bottle weight that stays consistent. Energy stays in line, too, because the lamp only heats when it needs to and cools fast, keeping the heating profile steady shift after shift.
The practical details
Short wave infrared is fast, but it also wants clean, focused reflectors and stable voltage. Install it with the correct polarity and double-check alignment so the hot zone matches the preform path. Lamp life will take a hit if you run it continuously at max voltage or if tunnel airflow gets blocked. Match the lamp to the machine’s specified voltage and socket type, and set the controller to prevent overshoot. Set it up right, and the heating tunnel stays repeatable, day after day.
